I wanted to share the experience with you all, especially because my bariatric surgeon did not require me to be on a liquid diet pre-op. At the very least, some of you can relate, and the rest, well… you are receiving a warning. Ha Ha.

As a reminder, here’s what I could eat on day 1 of the pouch reset:
Day 1
- Clear liquids only.
- Water
- Broth
- Jell-O (sugar free)
- Decaf tea
- Decaf coffee
- Sugar free Popsicles
- Sugar free drinks that are not carbonated.
My day started around 8:00 AM with a cup of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) morning detox drink. So far so good.
Making this ACV drink is simple:
- 2 TBSP ACV
- 2 TBSP lemon juice
- 1 TBSP raw or organic honey
- 1 Tsp cinnamon
- 12 OZ hot water
- Mix all together and sip
Today I knew was going to be busy, thus I would need some energy. BCAA’s to the rescue. BCAA’s or Branched-Chain Amino Acids is a wonderful addition to any athlete’s diet. It supplies energy to the muscles and aids in recovery. You can read more on the benefits of BCAA’s here: https://www.gnc.com/sports-performance/what-are-bcaas.html

After a crazy morning, I was feeling rather weak around noon, so I decided some bone broth was in order. Bone broth is full of protein, and by this point of the day I just wanted something salty.
As the day went on, the cravings kicked in. Mid afternoon I had a second bowl of bone broth. This did little to appease my cravings, but like before, I moaned on social media and stuck to my plan. Many of my IG fam bam cheered me on. Their support gave me strength 🙂
I watched some TV, put away the laundry, and felt like a snack was in order. I wanted pizza, but ate sugar free Jell-o instead. At this point I’m either a masochist or truly committed to this pouch reset. Meh… a little bit of both He He He.
Later in the evening I felt like eating again. This time I had a sugar free Popsicle #winning .
To those of you doing the pouch reset, I wish good fortune and strength of will. And offering a gentle reminder that our body is worthy of nourishment. We should all be kind to ourselves, and striving for health is definitely self-love.
